Broadwater Bygones
"Broadwater Bygones" is a comprehensive history of what is now Broadwater County and the people that created and lived in the area. The history is written by the descendants of those early pioneers and is a unforgettable compilation of information.
From the Broadwater Bygones
Significant anniversaries prompted the writing of the history of Broadwater County. Mrs. Floy L. (Grace Averill) Holloway (chairman of the County celebration committee in 1964 to observe the centennial of the Territory of Montana and the Diamond Jubilee of the State), assembled a group of local women who researched and wrote lengthy historical stories which appeared weekly in the Townsend Star published by Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Brammer and Mr. and Mrs. John Jepson. The authors of that history were Mrs. Floyd L. (Grace Averill) Holloway, Mrs. Harold W. (Eleanor Hargrove) Marks, Mrs. Ned (Agnes West) George, Mrs. Elsie Aker Ralls, Mrs. Erma Patterson Netzer, Mrs. J.W. (Edna Ragen) Gaab, Mrs. H. M. (Lovinnie Dawson) Sperry, Mrs. Edward (Mildred Waterman) Nield, Mrs. Martha Averill Hassell.
Those who rewrote and compiled the chapters for this volume are Grace Holloway, co-coordinator; Eleanor Marks, Agnes George, Mrs. Charles (Barbara Hodgson) Baum and Edna Gaab.
This history is offered as a contribution in observance of the Bi-Centennial of the United State of America (1976) with a blessing from the County Chairman, Mrs. James (Ossia Taylor) Kearns.
